well dj, i started composing myself since there are no interesting midis (or mp3s) uploaded anymore. i wrote another nice piece for full strings, but i guess 40 mB is too much for you.

iPod traditionally exports HE-AACv2.  Don't knock MP3, it's been good to us for >15 years.

However, it is to be deprecated by installments of the MPEG-4 Part 14 standard, a.k.a. the iPod format.

btw, nice set of samples, though redundant.  I was expecting a song at first, but this can be a fine SF2.
It was obviously ripped from something.  Was it from a hardware rompler, or an alternative bank format?
A pure conversion would be better than manual reconstruction.

please ignore the above accusations of ripping and plagitism. my file contains the performance of a piece for French horn solo i created myself, i can show you the sketches and final midi any time you like. of course you are free to rip my production and make a sf2 from the samples, for i, nor my French hornplayer claim any copyrights.

Heya Zandro-

Been following this for awhile.  You might be able to put your two cents in-

http://w2.eff.org/patent/wanted/patent.php?p=seer

I patent searched for HOURS without good results.  Maybe you can contribute to this cause.  They need pre 1997 "prior art" - works created using MIDI, networks, and prerecorded sounds.  Thought I would share that with you - it could threaten MP4 and who knows, maybe soundfonts. too!!

PS Boy, does that go for your "String Quartet" as well?  Nice tone in all three files and thanks  Smiley

I wonder if Cakewalk's BUN/WRK format can fall under this description.
If the release date of CWHS4 can be found (I'm downloading it now)...

On my HS9 CD, I have Dark Matter.bun dated July 23, 1997. So close!
BUN files could be present in earlier versions of Cakewalk Home Studio.

Installation of Cakewalk is required to decompress these, and the size
(easily 10MB+) can be a deterrent for networks. CDs would be needed.

Though I'm positive they won't ever win a case court against the ISO.

I align with your thinking, Zandro.  The Cakewalk BUN files (also WRK files, too?) preceed 1997.  I was thinking as far back as the "demoscene" collections with trackers, or the ancient page called "Soundfont songs" which had paired midis and SBKs.  The earliest page for "Soundfont songs" (go.to.soundfonts) in Wayback Machine still is later than the Seer patent. I wonder if that webpage had a prior URL.  How could you even find that out?

Thanks a lot for looking!

Hey Boy,

I am alarmed to confirm that your talent bypass reversal operation appears to have been ineffective.

- not, and never was, any sort of DJ, dark or otherwise.
