Hello everyone. I've been a member here for quite a while (years rather than months) but haven't contributed much in the past.
For a couple of years I've been sampling my growing collection of guitars and basses. My level of skill has gradually increased and I've now put together a fairly sizeable collection. It has become something of an obsession and I've spent more hours than I could ever hope to count working on the project!!
My ethos throughout has been to go for a natural unprocessed sound to allow the user to add effects as they wish. My electric and bass guitars have been sampled by DI with the intention that they should be used with amp simulation plugins. My recent acoustic presets have been created in stereo using coincidental XY pairs of microphones.
I also believe it's important with guitars to record the full natural decay of each note rather than looping samples. This inevitably means that my presets (especially the stereo ones) are pretty large (80-130MB) and they are really intended for use with software samplers or the free Sfz player rather than Soundblaster.
If you want to learn more about my work, please visit my website at
www.chevinsounds.com . I have decided to charge a small fee for my larger sampled instruments to recoup some of the spiralling costs of equipment (and guitars!) and to cover the costs of the website. However, there are some smaller demo soundfonts and older full-size presets available for free download, which you may find useful.
If I can figure out the new site layout here, I will try to upload some of my free soundfonts here as well. Perhaps someone can then edit them with looping for Soundblaster use.
Paul
